Clerk
Purpose
Under direct supervision, the Circulation Clerk is responsible for ensuring appropriate and efficient distribution of library materials.
Responsibilities
Perform general and repetitive duties related to the checking-in, sorting, shelving and retrieval of materials.
1. Assists patrons in the selecting and checking out of materials
2. Provides customer service by assisting customers with Public Access Catalog (PAC), copiers, printers, etc. and locating or retrieving materials for customers
3. Checks in and sorts returned materials accurately and efficiently
4. Receives and shelves materials with accuracy and timeliness
5. Assists in the shelving/retrieval of items for patrons
6. Maintains shelves throughout location, including shelf reading, shifting materials, and straightening items on shelves.
7. Prepares library for opening and closing by straightening furniture and shelves, reshelving loose materials and maintaining neat appearance of library.
Required
Qualifications
1. Ability to pass alphanumeric sorting test
2. Ability to stand for six hours, lift, bend, or kneel repeatedly to shelve materials or retrieve items from shelves or book bins.
3. Must be able to push a full book cart or book bin and have good hand mobility and coordination.
4. Perform general clerical functions quickly and accurately; understand and follow written and oral instructions and work independently in carrying out assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationship with fellow employees and patrons of all ages and diversity; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records
6. Ability to read and write the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
Schedule
Current opening is for Part time (7.5 hours) per week on Saturday.
Compensation
$ 7.00 an hour
